Features

Breathpal was developed to be for personal and professional usage, with following requirements as starting point:

  • Low cost electronics and construction
  • Suitable to wear daylong to gather breathing patterns while not paying attention to it
  • Simple in use: no training required

This resulted in a device with the following features and properties:

  • Easy attachment and operation by use of RIP strap poppers
  • Instant working: No On/Off switch needed
  • Small and light to allow invisible wearing: 6.2 x 3.0 x 1.2 cm, 20 grams, for the abdominal sensor, 3,9 x 3.0 x 1.2 cm, 13 grams, for thorax sensor. Straps 11 gram each
  • Full day battery life and raw data storage. Recharging and bulk data retrieval over USB
  • Accurate 2-ch RIP: resolution* up to 0.07 cm2 intersection surface change
  • Low temperature drift and no mutual influencing between RIP bands
  • Movement and orientation sensor: 3-D 12 bits accelerometer +/- 2G
  • Temperature sensor: 1 0C resolution
  • Tactile feedback by integrated vibration motor
  • Sample speed 2.5 – 5 – 10 samples per second*
  • Real Time Clock and Data stamps included.
  • BLE 5.0 Wireless Communication for real time data communication using dedicated dongle
  • Open and easy communication protocol; simple Windows presentation and storage tools
  • Economical design, low cost at volume production

*: Resolution and sample speed can also be adapted on request

The sensor hardware is supported by Windows applications for data retrieval and sensor configuration, and firmware upgrade.

  • Data retrieval and storing to .csv text
  • Live graph of both channels and accelerometer, live writing to file
  • Fully disclosed communication protocols
